How to get a TXT file from a PDF

  1. Try selecting a word in your original PDF. A selectable text layer usually means you can extract the words directly.
  2. Open the file and choose Plain text in the export window. The TXT download separates the text with a marker for each page.
  3. Check the reading order for columns and tables. If a scanned page has no selectable text, use PDF OCR to recognize the words in the image.
